NPS Round 4 Cork 16th July

Here we go again ! Report on the forth round of the national BMX series in Cork. BCBMX were well represented with eight members racing. We had Reece, Martin, Ozzy, Meg, Molly, Stuart, Gareth and Ian. The results were a mixed bag, some good and some unlucky ! Starting with the youngest, little Reece ran all day on his strider bike at the pump track and once again had a great time racing all the other future champs in the strider race. Martin Groundwater was on fire all day with two 2nds & a 3rd in motos. However, Martin slipped a pedal on the gate in the final and left himself too much to do, needless to say Martin was disappointed but will be back for the next race. The girls Molly and Meg had a smashing time literally.... !
The Belfast girls crashed into each other in the first moto ! They had to crash into each other, they could have crashed into the Lisburn girls or the Cork girls, no each other . Only joking btw about the other girls.. Molly finished the day with a 5th, 3rd, 3rd & 4th with Molly 4th overall. As I mentioned, Meg crashed in her first moto, but got back up on the gate and finished the day with 6th, 4th,4th and a 5th which resulted in a 5th overall. Ozzy had another great race making the A final in a tough group with two 3rds and a 2nd. Ozzy finished a solid 6th in the A final. Big Stuart had a great day with a 2nd in his first moto beating his nemesis Tom Gordon and three 3rds in his other motos which gave Stuart a third overall ! Moving on to the vets, Gareth was racing well and looking good all day. Starting to turn heads now, Gareth was standing tall and holding his own with a 5th, 6th, 5th and a 4th in the B final. Last to race was Ian, who has finally got over what happened at Riverchapel . Ian's motos went well with a 4th and two 1st. In the final, Ian recovered well from a bad gate to finish second but only just with Mark Kennedy nipping at his back wheel. All in all, a great weekend in Cork. The only downside was the fall of Ilmars Virsis in his last moto. Hope to see Ilmars back soon.
